How We Got Started
We got started by chance at a breakfast party for a friend moving to
another city. One of their friends had tried to find a solid wooden urn for a
loved ones ashes. I have been a joiner for 30 years so I took up the challenge
and offered to make one for them.
They were very happy with the finished product and suggested that I look
to producing the Urns for the retail market. On realizing the potential I
enquired at the crematorium and found there was indeed a need for good quality
solid timber urns.
In 2003 we started making our first design (Kereru) which is very
popular, from our garage which has continued to this day. We then expanded our
unique designs (Toroa, Takahe and Iti) which seem to be just as popular.
We have developed a good clientele in New Zealand and our urns are
displayed in several funeral homes.
Now we want to take our products to the International market.
The urns have been designed and shaped for showpieces on a mantelpiece,
in a display cabinet or they can be used for burial.
